I was in (Catholic) grade school when the announcement came over the p.a. that he had been shot. Classwork stopped and we said a rosary. Then the principal announced he had died, and dismissed us early to go home. I remember as I walked up Seminary Ave on my way to my grandmother's house that grownups were coming out of their houses and standing around crying on the streets. Very unnerving to an 11-year old.

Three years to the day later my youngest sister was born (11/22/66) - happy birthday Nancy, the big 4-0!
