They're not "glorifying" evil Touhy,it's about all the evil that humanity does to eachother out of their own weaknesses and misguided ambition,hatered & prejudices. Not to mention just their flat out ignorance.

The devil is the one usually blamed for the evil that humans do and in the song that's what he/it represents.

All things mentioned in the song could have all been avoided if those responsible used the "free will" God gave them all & also just plain common sense.

I have to say though,not long after the Stones did this song,the stabbing at their 1969 Altmont concert took place.
This can be witnessed in the documentary,"Gimmie Shelter".
