My father was deathly allergic to blue dyes in food. His tongue, lips and throat would swell up, and possibly block his air passages. He had to carry around an antihistimine shot at all times.
He was allergic to a lot of everyday things... maple leaves, fresh cut grass, beer, chocolate, fiddle heads, spinach... the list goes on and on.
