Interesting choices, all, although B'stone, you've got to get past MC's looks and see that her voice might be fine, but her material is weak.
I tend to be a sucker for a singer/songwriter--I think it's twice as hard to do, but when good, the results are twice as rewarding. So, I'll nominate one forgotten voice--Kate Wolf. Especially in "Safe at Anchor", her music is poetic, personal, and extremely moving.
