Its just a Catagory 1 hurricane, how bad can it be?
Pretty darn bad, apparently!
Hi all, I'm sitting here in North Miami, close to where Hurricane Katrina has made landfall and we are being rocked by winds alot stronger than I expected. So far, our power is still on, but its flickered a few times and I don't expect it to last long. So, I'm writing quickly. We've lost some screens, trees, the neighbor's shingles seem to be flying off and the green "lightening" that is a hallmark of hurricanes is flashing every few seconds.
Its not nearly as bad as Hurricane Andrew was, but since we're right near the eye, its actually quite a bit worse than the stronger hurricanes whose centers came ashore north of where I live last year.
And what the heck is that BANGING NOISE OUTSIDE??
Anyway, we've got a few more hours, maybe even a day left till the entire hurricane passes by us. Wish us luck and say a prayer for us Lightheads down Miami ways!
