Hi Florian,

I love your categories...you're much more generous then I am. I only have two...that which I like and that which I don't.

As far as The Band goes, I've never been a follower so I'm not really familiar with all of their work. However, I do like a couple of the somgs they've recorded. "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "Forever Young" are great songs, although I prefer Joan Baez's covers. "Long Black Veil" is another great tune. But there again, I prefer Lefty Frizzell's cover...Hoyt Axton's is good too. I like The Band's version of "Up On Cripple Creek" and I'm quite sure it's because of the long ago memory it invokes everytime I hear it. But that's another story - suffice it to say, the song remembers when...

I'm sorry you didn't like The Band. I hope that doesn't make you hesitant in listening to some of the other suggestions mentioned in the "songwriters" thread.
