On a more serious note, I kind of disagree with you. Yes, Gord is a family man and he does love his children, but he's definitely NOT the "Brady Bunch" kind of family man. And yes, he was and is a millionaire, but that has never changed him in any way.
I think he is EXACTLY like Quint. You commented that you don't see him as a loner like that. That is really how I see him. I could easily picture him in that same scenario and lifestyle as Quint. I can hear Quint's words coming out of his mouth. He could be that cynical. He could build that big wall around himself and he could very well be that crusty. I just don't see him as the "yuppie" Hooper. Yes, Gord had a very beautiful sailboat, but it was NOT to "show off". It was because he LOVED sailing and still probably does. He sold the boat because he didn't have time for it anymore. Hooper actually aggravated me.
But, please don't take offense by my disagreeing with you or your wife. Perhaps I just see Gord a little differently than you. It doesn't mean either one of us are right or wrong. I am actually kind of enjoying this discussion. Hope you are, too.
