Anne Murray and Olivia Newton-John Record Cotton Jenny for Anne's Duets CD
May 29, 2007 -
Anne Murray and Olivia Newton-John have recorded Cotton Jenny for Anne's upcoming Duets CD.
The track was recorded at the Capitol Recording studio in Los Angeles, and was produced by Phil Ramone.
Both Anne Murray and Olivia Newton-John recorded a Lightfoot song early in their careers; Anne recorded Cotton Jenny and Olivia recorded If You Could Read My Mind, both released in 1971.
The Duets CD is scheduled for a Fall release.

That should be a good cover of Jenny.
Here is a photo from 2000....Anne being present the Juno Award by Glen Campbell and another distinguished gentleman in a suit.
FOOTNOTE: Anne Murray recorded a few songs written by a very good friend and former performing partner of mine (Tony Marty, Nashville).
Here's the Gord tie: Tony's song was called Harmony, and it became the single and the title of Anne's 1987 LP.
The album did not do so well, but the single was all over the radio for a few months. In order to get the placement on Anne's album - Tony had to sign a co-authors agreement with the person able to pitch the song.
It happened all the time back then. What a crock!
Very few singer/songwriters had the rank, power, clout - whatever, that Lightfoot and a few others had in those days.
SOUR NOTE: Tony had years of painful attempts to receive writers royalties on this project - and a few others that we all heard on the radio. This is no reflection on Anne...she most likely had no idea. PUBLISHERS!
