Monebalone,

Yes, I was there, in the first row, but on the riser section, stage left. I should have figured it was someone on this list that left that note.

You gave a pretty complete review, just let me add a few observations. It was HOT!! About 101 degrees in Salina yesterday afternoon. Gord was in good voice, he dropped a few of the high notes, but hey, were all getting a little older. Since he's been off 10 days he was rested and ready. Now he's got one night stands the next nine days. Pretty tough. Remember he said he wasn't there by accident? Wonder what he meant by that. I was suprised that he didn't mention in the song intro, that the daughter of a deceased Ed Fitz sailor was present. I had read it and heard it on the radio. Maybe he wasn't aware.

I was glad to hear "Heaven Dont Deserve Me"
for the first time live. Wish he had done a few more rareities from the anthology. I have been working cording out some of them.. I'll send them to Florian when I get them finished if he wants to post them. Anyway, the first set was great. The highlight of the second set for me was "Song for a Winter's Night", written in a rainstorm in Cleveland. It was exquisite!! Blackberry Wine started off a little shaky and I have to report that I was disappointed with CRT, the traditional last song. It was done without any intro and much slower that I ever remember. I thought it sounded stale, lacking much energy and emotion. Maybe he's just done it too often. But that's a small gripe.

I found out that it did require a pass to go backstage. I didn't want to try to crash the scene, so just left and played Gord tapes all the way home. I'm staying at my mom's house about an hour west of Salina.

Hope to hear some reports from you other guys over the next few weeks.

Monebalone, are you going to the KC gig on Nov. 9th? Don't think I'll make it. Just too much excitement for an old guy.
