Midnightmisty,

Once you've posted a message, you are taken back to the topic. In the box where your message is there is the date and time. To the right of that there are four icons. The second one from the right allows you to edit. Click on this icon and it will bring your message back to the drawing board to be changed in any way you see fit. (The icon depicts a note with a pencil/eraser.)
