Well, hello friends...I guess i feel a little like Gord did coming out of that coma/time-warp, thankfully, without the pain....used to be a regular here some years ago, had a great time and was amazed that there were actually others out there who lived and died with Gord's music, from time to time, like I did. I took a quick look around tonight and it seems some of the original suspects are still here....Char, Silverheels, 2much and I think that cryptic electrical engineer from Moab, Utah is here also. Don't mean to bore all you others who I don't know, but when you haven't posted in three years it just like some other things in life...just kinda like the feel of doing it again!

But...how I got back here today, was how I landed here back in 2000 also...via Val Magee. Her's was the first GL site I found back then, led me to Florian's Austrian garden here and in many ways, changed parts of my life since then. I think I can safely say, that if Val had not had and maintained her website...and it was a masterpiece...I would have never found Corfid and would have never met Gord.
I had the incredible pleasure of meeting Gord and his band for the first time, not far from Val's backyard...a day I'll never forget...and then I became almost a 'regular' backstage at several more concerts. Fittingly, the last time I saw Gord's face, we were sitting in the front row or my Alma Mater's Auditorium, where he had just finished a two night stand. We talked like old friends, he modestly deflected any compliments...and then, he decided that he best be on his way. That was also the last song I heard him play...Early Moring Rain. I sensed that night, that for whatever reason, it would be the last concert, of perhaps 15 or 20 that I had attended.

Whether he ever performs live again or not...and forgive me, if I'm not up on the latest news...it has been a great ride, great memories and of course the music goes with me everywhere. But, had it not been for Val's diligent, selfless efforts over many years, I wonder how many of us would have missed so much of what we came to experience...from her news items, concert details to referrals here. It may seem insignificant at times, but there are also many, many times when I silently thank people like Val, Florian and Char for making such a wonderful effort, for the benefit of us all.

So Val...this is yet another lengthy, nostalgic salute to you, likely boring to others....but you are/were a fellow Nutmegger, I thank you for all your time, effort and expense and please know, that I will always be proud to have met you and for having you point me to Gord's backstage door...and a place that I call home.

Besh wishes always and don't become a stranger!
