Just like another day in paradise, Kevin Lochhead said with a chuckle yesterday after arriving home from work.

Though that likely isnt an honest description of his shipping-receiving job in Barrie, it could have applied to the Orillia mans first and only meeting with Gordon Lightfoot last Sunday at St.
Pauls United Church.

What do you say to Gordon Lightfoot that he hasnt heard a million times? the singer/songwriter and Lightfoot fanatic asked.

Well, Lochhead, 52, thanked him for a lifetime of music and inspiration.

He also had the Orillia-born folk legend sign a program from the tribute concert his duo Chinook put on for him at the Orillia Opera House last November.

Lochhead sings and plays guitar in the folk duo with his wife, Jessica, who plays percussion. They play a lot of Lightfoot tunes.

Ive been wanting to meet the guy, said Lochhead, who wrote his own song about Orillia, which he performed two years ago for the citys Canada Day celebrations.

On Sunday, he sat in the second pew at the church during Lightfoots unplugged performance.

I found him to be really personable, said Lochhead, who cites If You Could Read My Mind as one of his favourite tunes.
