‘Song for a Winter’s Night’

I’ve always loved the pure voice of Nana Mouskouri and was recently playing an old album of hers.
I’d completely forgotten she sang a version of ‘Winter’s Night’ on it.
Completely different to...

Re: WALL STREET JOURNAL - August 2020

It’s good to see how GL constructs a song, as it was his songwriting that got me into his music.
We all know the songs which ‘do it’ for us and I have my very special ones.

Re: CANADA DAY - virtual performances- GORDON!!

Well, that’s made my day...

It’s 12 years since I saw Gord. in the Massey Hall.

Re: Favourite Song on "Solo" Album

I suppose my problem with this album are the lyrics and some of the music’s similarity to older songs.

GL’s lyrics were very deep and sometimes emotional in his ‘70s songs and that is what’s ...

Re: Gord's Songs About Summer.

I always thought ‘Summer Side of Life’ referenced Vietnam, in the same way Glen
Campbell’s ‘Galveston’ did.

Re: GORDON LIGHTFOOT

Gail, I’d forgotten how good ‘Sea of Tranquility’ is.
Excellent album...

I have the original record and a CD.
Nice to play it in the car.

Re: GORDON LIGHTFOOT

I love looking back in the archives of this Discussion Forum.
It gives me a perspective on my journey through Gord’s music.

Like Florian, ‘If You Need Me’ is my favourite track on Dream Street...

Re: Photo-London 1969

In June 1969, I didn’t know Gordon Lightfoot even existed.
It was the Swinging Sixties and I was spending time in Oxford’s ‘Carnaby Street’,
Little Clarendon Street.
Trendy clothes shops, coffee...

Re: You Create the Set List

I have just listened to the whole GC album on Spotify.
He also makes a good job of ‘If you could read my mind.’

I only knew Glen Campbell by the really popular songs.

Re: Favorite 'Harmony' Song

My favourite song from the ‘Harmony’ CD is ‘Clouds of Loneliness’, but
‘Sometimes I Wish’ runs it a close second.

As an aside, I prefer ‘Harmony’ to ‘A Painter Passing By.’
I feel the songs...

Re: One single line of lyrics makes the song much better

others ? ) can use that information.

Re: NEW album - 'SOLO' -LISTEN to SONG - Gord & guitar only - MARCH 20,2020

His voice was much better two decades ago.
When I heard him in Oxford in 2016 I was shocked at the deterioration.
Consequences of constant smoking and old age, presumably.
I wouldn’t spend good...
