Re: Curious about our Canadian

Wow, I never realized that Gord wasn't tall. On the stage, to me at least, he has a tall, commanding presence. Gosh, I'm only 5'1". We're perfect for each other :)

One thing I've been curious...

Re: New Bedford

Well...on the other hand (or whatever), it must be nice to be a 72 year old man and STILL have women throwing their unmentionables at you :)

Re: article about Terry-York Region.com

I like the continual use of the term "Mr" in the article. Very refined, respectful and not seen in the press often these days.

Re: Terry

Am really shocked and saddened to hear about Terry. He has played at every Lightfoot concert I've ever been to. I can't imagine a GL concert without him -

Re: Canadian Health Care

I've really appreciated all your thoughtful comments. I heard an interesting story on NPR (which, by the way, segments of our government is trying to take away funding for). There is a realtor in...

Re: Canadian Health Care

It must be nice to live in a place where people do have an attitude that is geared towards helping themselves and others as opposed to "me, me, me". And, then there is all this insanity in the U.S....

Re: Canadian Health Care

Not wanting immigrants over a certain age makes perfect sense. And yes, you're absolutely correct, immigrating does mean giving as well as taking. I had heard about people having to wait for...

Canadian Health Care

Am just curious - to all you Canadians out there - are you truly happy with your health care program?

As everyone knows, this is such an issue in the U.S. and, quite frankly, our health care...

Thanks - am going to check that out. Do any of the Corfidians make a pilgrimage in May to Orillia?

Re: Lightfoot-Cover boy of March 2011 ZOOMER magazine

Thanks Charlene - so one can bring 2 bottles of wine. It did occur to me that a passport is required now. And when asked by customs what is the purpose of your trip? I can say, I'm going to see...

Re: Lightfoot-Cover boy of March 2011 ZOOMER magazine

:headbang: Think I just might do it! I wonder if Canadian customs will let one bring wine into the country? It's not loaded but one could get loaded...ha ha ha ha ha. Sonoma is a nice little town....

Re: Lightfoot-Cover boy of March 2011 ZOOMER magazine

Okay, thank you - am considering how to accomplish this - I thought airfare would be cheaper than about $700 r/t. Have never been to Toronto and have always wanted to go - and to see GL in Toronto...

Thank you for posting that - great article and pics. To me, the pics reflect a certain elegance and intellect, they are very striking.

Re: Gordon lightfoot?

Please forgive me for saying this (it's not that I'm jaded or anything), but together the two songs form sort of a package. You have "The Wedding Song" at the start of the marriage and "If You Could...

Re: Lightfoot's Looks

Very cool article by Phil Ochs. I truly wish he hadn't been in such despair/ill and hadn't committed suicide. He was a treasure and we've lost out on decades of his commentary.

Re: Lightfoot's Looks

Years ago, after Sundown, there was an article published in People about Gord. I believe that is where the "lonely and womanless" comment came from that he apparently didn't care for. Anyway, I think...

Re: Lightfoot's Looks

I'll have to go with "a" as well. During the Sundown time period, I don't think I've ever seen a better looking man. Looks, brilliant songwriter, singer, sensual, a regular romance novel hero. Have...

Arthur fan too?)

The Mists of Avalon is my favorite book. But I guess GL fans tend to be on the romantic side :)

Would prefer Steven Spielberg to produce/director as opposed to Oliver Stone or...

Re: Phil Ochs film...what if there were a Gord film?

Yes, "I'm Not Sayin'" is probably perfect.

"East of Midnight" always just seemed like a fanciful, magical kind of title to me - was that the album title or was that a song on Salute?

Re: Phil Ochs film...what if there were a Gord film?

Welp, there is always, "Gordon Lightfoot: Beautiful". Or, "Stone Cold Sober". Or, "Harmony". Or, "East of Midnight"

Stone Cold Sober

Just read the lyrics to it - what a fantastic song! Does anyone know what year Gord composed it?
