Deb Brinkley - aka - brink

Sad news to post - Deb Brinkley, a long time member here and dear friend died in Tulsa, OK on August 1, 2023 after a short illness...

She was a fierce advocate for rescue dogs and started the successful DMK Rehoming facility in 2008 in Colorado.

Many of us spent wonderful, memorable times with her at concerts in the U.S. and in Toronto at Massey Hall..where she never stopped working for the dogs, arranging to get them to DMK and from DMK to their new homes..

DMK has a post in honour of Deb at: https://www.facebook.com/dmkrehoming

Char, I'm sad to hear of Brink's passing. She was one of the first posters on Corfid to contact me and make me feel welcome here (in 2008). She even sent me a stack of live Gordon Lightfoot recordings, including one full of "East Of Midnight" songs once I mentioned it was my favourite Gord album.

That's who she was.. she did that so often for so many fans.. Her generosity and thoughtfulness was endless.. We are all better people for having had her in our lives and I miss her so much.. Shorty was a good friend to have..

I've pretty much lost direct contact with the Lightheads I met online and in person from the late 90s thru the mid 00s.

Deb was one of them.

Pehaps I should raise a glass in memory.

My fault for not coming to Corfid often enough. After meeting Deb at Massey Fest one year I knew she was a nice person.

At the beginning of the lockdowns she was looking for volunteers to get one of the dogs from Maryland to Colorado and bingo I live in MD.

After most folks dropped the offer to help it ended up a two person relay instead of 6 or 8 and I drove the first leg - from Maryland to Ohio.

It was delightful to work with her to help rescue a rescue, long story.

RIP Deb
