'Salute'

Sorting out my CDs, I came across Salute. It had been slotted in at the bottom
of the rack.
Slotting it in my Tascam CD player, I am surprised I stopped playing it.

'Whispers of the North' pulled me in immediately.
Lesson to be learnt here.
Give ALL GL's CDs a chance !

It may sound surprising but I still don't have 'all' of his CD's . :(

I have all of his albums on vinyl (including the redundant US best of's and a 'Pickwaick' best of and oneimort Best of from Germany + Early Lightfoot and "Sit Down Young Stranger'"titled). Gord's Gold II as well.

On CD :
The UA Collection (To save time in buying all four separately.)
IYCRMM,
Summer Side Of Life
Don Quixote
Old D's Rec.'s
Sundown
Gord's Gold
COTS
Summertime Dream
Endless Wire,
Dream Street Rose
Shadows
East Of Midnight
Waiting For You
A Painter Passing Through
and Harmony.

I like the "Salute" album. The title track is phenomenal. Other faves are "Biscuit City", "Without You", "Whispers Of The North", "Knotty Pine" and "Broken Dreams".

'Salute' is still probably my favorite album of Gord's. He had given up the alcohol that was killing him in '82, so this album presents a 'fresh start' for him!! If you look at his face on the cover, you can see the ravages of alcohol on him.

It's the first one I had him autograph back in 1999.

Obviously no hit songs from it, but I just love the song set as a whole.

'Tatoo' may possibly be my favorite GL song!!

Don't you have "Songbook"?

I love "Salute." Sadly it got NO airplay where we live (Phila., PA). I blame that on the local radio stations. If we hadn't attended Gord's summer concert supporting the album in 1983, we wouldn't have known about it. I bought it the day after the concert!
