May 21 - Elkhart, IN show
7:30 p.m. sharp "playin' in tune on time' Gord came out in his red jacket. After applause died down, Gordon said to the crowd, "I know you're out there." (probably couldn't see because of the bright stage lighting)
1. Now and Then 2. Waiting For You 3. The Watchman's Gone 4. Don Quixote 5. Minstrel Of The Dawn 6. Never Too Close Band introductions : Gordon introduced Barry Keane as "laying down a beat that keeps me honest!" 7. Shadows 8. Beautiful 9. Make Way For The Lady 10. Gord exchanged guitars at this point and said, "You'll have to pardon me. I'm not moving as fast as I once did!" (got a chuckle) At this point I yelled up "We still love ya, Gord!" Carefree Highway 11. Did She Mention My Name 12. Ribbon Of Darkness 13. Sundown 8:20 p.m. - intermission Gordon came out in his blue jacket for the second half. 14. Sweet Guinnevere 15. Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald 16. Christian Island 17. All The Lovely Ladies 18. Let It Ride 19. I'd Rather Press On 20. Rainy Day People 21. A Painter Passing Through 22. If You Could Read My Mind (standing ovation afterwards - deservedly so - I swear Gordon saves his voice for this one!!!) 23. Restless 24. Baby Step Back 25. Early Morning Rain encore 26. Cold On The Shoulder Concert over 9:30 p.m. Gordon joked about it, but he was moving noticeably slower than I have seen him ever. This was show #21 for my wife and I. Met Gordon 19 of those times. When we told Rick Haynes that he replied, "God Bless You!" Got autographs from Gordon, Rick and Barry on our 'Songbook' book. I'll try to post some pics. If you have not seen Gordon in concert ever, or even in a long time, you better get there. None of us are getting any younger!!!! My wife and I are going to get tickets for the Joliet show in July. Can't wait for the new biography coming out in September. I noticed it is the same author who did the notes for the 'Songbook' book. Kelly Davis |
Re: May 21 - Elhart, IN show
I've never been disappointed with IYCRMM.. always his "A" game and a standing "O" after...and perhaps a few tears..
I noticed last year he was a tad slower getting around.. a bit more hesitant perhaps due to his vertigo/inner ear problems.. but he gets 'er done! Go Good Go! thanks for the post and set list! The Jennings book will be well received..he's a well respected music historian and writer and a very nice guy to boot! |
Re: May 21 - Elhart, IN show
I had forgotten that Gordon had the vertigo/inner ear problems. I do also remember him leaning forward for a few seconds and remaining totally still and silent.
Must be a symptom relief technique for it. I'm surprised that he doesn't use a barstool when he performs. He is ever the trooper!!!!! Kelly Davis |
