One of Canada's most legendary songwriters is coming to Belleville's Empire Theatre.

Gordon Lightfoot will perform Sunday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. The word 'legend' can be overused but not in the case of Gordon Lightfoot. A national treasure, Gordon Lightfoot is beloved by music fans around the world.

He has won 15 Juno Awards and been nominated for five Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1986 and in May 2003 was made a Companion of the Order of Canada. In 2004 he released his 20th album! In the music world, he may very well be the idol of icons.

Gordon Lightfoot is deeply respected by his peers, many of whom have recorded his songs - including Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Barbra Streisand and Johnny Cash. But rather than bask in the adulation he so clearly inspires, the musical legend continues to work harder than ever.

Currently marking five decades of touring and counting, Gordon Lightfoot invites his fans to be a part of his legacy on his 2014 Canadian Tour. It is almost impossible to list all of his classics, but here is a sampling: Early Mornin' Rain,
