The Mariner's Church..
First of all hello everyone.. it's been over a year since I have been here.. really haven't had much to contribute to the forum so that's why I haven't been around.
Anyhooo this past weekend I got to see in person " A musty old hall in Detroit they prayed at the Maritime Sailor's Cathedral" :D. I'd always dreamed about visiting this place one day and it finally happened! I took a few photos of the place. I only saw one or two parking spots around the back near the gates to the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Seeing as I was staying up in Port Huron, it was a challenge to turn around lol. Was surprised to see a statue of George Washington on the other side. Equally surprised to learn it's basically right next door to GM Headquarters. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...sCathedral.jpg |
Re: The Mariner's Church..
Nice one Gord. Welcome back
If you enlarge the photo it does indeed show "Old Mariners' Church" (not exactly a "cathedral") I must remmber that if I ever get the chance to revisit Detroyit i went once,in 1966 with my parents and we visited the Masonic Cemetary where my father's father is buried (he died there in 1930 something whilst working for Henry Ford's little outfit) |
