Coquitlam review
Richard can't log on cuz he forgot his PW so here are his thoughts about the Cozquilam BC show last week:
I went to the Coquitlam concert last Friday and tell you that it was an excellent concert. First, the venue was a thousand seats and it was a very nicely laid out theatre. When Gord came out the audience gave him a standing O which seemed to surprise him and he seemed very pleased. The sound system was turned up and seemed to fill the concert hall. Gord's voice was strong and clear and seldom did he seem to strain. He was relaxed and chatty. At one time he referred to his ex wives as "additional wives". He said some very complimentary things about Stomping' Tom. I noticed that Mike had some great parts in Waiting For You which I hadn't heard before...I think they are called riffs are they not...though I don't know if they apply to piano. Also Early Morning Rain took on a new, delicate sound..I think mainly due to some different arrangements from Carter. In fact Gord made mention of it being done in the "original style". It felt like I was hearing it fresh...perhaps for the first time. Gord did say something about the Fifty Years on the Carefree Highway being actually forty- eight. After the concert I came away thinking that Gord could carry on indefinitely. |
