Borderstone Anniversary Coming UP! Join Date : 2/26/2003

Well I see it but I can't believe it!

Is it "really" 10 years ago this week that I officially signed up for Corfid aka Lightfoot Index?? 10 years this past Nov. / Dec. that i found the site and "lurked" until making the big plunge?

Yes,it is and I'm happy to say I shared
(and will continue as often as possible) a lot in that time.

The first Gordon song I ever heard, the first album i ever bought, how i was able to purchase Songbook. Buying "Harmony" on it's release date. My (now) 4,182 posts. As well as my goofy sense of humor.

My first concert in '-02 & then the 2007 show when I described the day here and the concert and provided pictures. As well as th 2008 flight to L.A (driving to San Diego the 2nd day)for 2 GL shows.
Meeting and grereeting with Gordon after all four & getting SDYS and Early Lightfoot LP's autographed in '07 and other autographs. Meeting the band and Barry Harvey as well.

Leaving a message and communicating to Gordon's daughter,as most of us did, when her mother passed on.

...and of course,my many "list" messages that some of liked. Including the Christmas gift of PM'ing some of "the #1 songs on your birthdays". I even sent Gord's #1s to his daughter.

All this and just sharing the love of Gordon's music with all of you! Here's to one of the best sites on the internet and I hope to stay as long as I can. I know some of you have been here longer.you amaze me.

Thanks for reading all this and thanks for the fun.....but it ain;t over yet! LOL!

"It's been B." "Catch Ya On The Flipside Of Sundown!" <--- There's a blast from the past!

Happy 10th anniversary, Borderstone. And I just noticed my 5th anniversary came up a few days ago. I second your comments about what a great site this is. Many thanks to those running it and others posting to it. May it continue as long as possible.

Wow B - Happy 10th! We have outlasted a bunch of people no doubt about that. Nice job hanging in there all these years.

Peace,
Bill :)

Happy 5th Anniversary to you Dave! :)

Thanks to you and everyone else. ;)

So right Bill,we've seen quite a few come & go but it seems most of the one's fromthe first five years of the site are still present.

I went to the Wayback Machine internet archive,to find my oldest message, unfortunatly, back then I deleted my first few (I didn't know were supposed to leave them.)

There's one with my original Canary Yellow Canoe name (stating my password isn't working) So that's when I re-did it and became Borderstone. Here's my oldest message with my name.

March 7th,2003 - Who could portray Gordon in life-story film?

You know what would be so cool? If there was a movie made about GL's life!

The question is,who could play him. Off-hand,I can't think of any "serious" actors that could do it,but get this.
I was looking at the back of my copy of East Of Midnight and I could swear by the way Gord was grinning that he looked a little like Jim Carrey! (I hope that's not taken as a put down.)

I think Jim could play the thinner/older Lightfoot but for the younger, stronger looking one,I can only picture Will Farrell of SNL. Again,no joke intended. He has sort of the same face, definetly the same hair but...could he and/or Carrey pull it off?

So,what's your opinion? Let me know! P.S.-By the way,I've been deleting my past topics as soon as I'm sure there are no more responses. No sense leaving old topics up here. Borderstone,Out. H. & A.B. !

Of of course, this set off a suggestion for any number of candidates.

I gotta sign off now,see you soon!

Hi B
if you or anybody interested go to my easier to remember notsolong forwarding link at http://www.wayback.notlong.com
and enter corfid.com then select the March 19th 2003 archived set
then go to the original general discussion forum shown under its previous name of Gordon Lightfoot you can see the archived list of topics at that date as a listing of the most recent threads showing the usual date of the most recent posting
and note that the bottom seven are shown as
http://johnfowles.org.uk/LIGHTFOOT/i...hived_list.jpg
If you click that bottom one (on the actual web page not the screenshot above of course) it will open
http://web.archive.org/web/200304211...ML/001401.html

which shows an initial posting on 5 March 2003 of a thread subject
"Hi I'm New!"
in which new member "Canary Yellow Canoe" said
"love it! A Gordon Lightfoot website! COOOL"
on the very next day you realised that your memory had failed you and thanked Brink after giving your name as
yranaC wolleY eonaC
unregistered
anyway well done on getting to 4182 messages in just ten years (over one a day if my maths are correct) (in the UK we insist that a short form of the subject word mathematics (noting that it's plural) must be "maths" not the truncated Americanism "Math"!!)
The members list now shows that the aforementioned Canary Yellow Canoe
joined on March 5th 2003 not quite 10 years ago this week and made 7 postings but as of today:-
"Canary Yellow Canoe has not made any friends yet"!!
That may well be the case but luckily his alter ego aka Borderstone has made many here since
that momentuous day so long ago now
See B you might think that you had deleted some of your earliest posts but the internet archive had unbeknownst to you already saved the evidence!!

Happy 10th there with us Borderstone.

I vaguely recall making a post when you joined.

It's good you're here and still active with us.

Take care.

Thanks guys. :)

You're right John. LOL!
I totally forgot what my password was and reapplied as the reverse name of CYC.

I knew I wasn't going to keep that,so I decided to be as original as possible and TA-DA! The "b. Was born. I haven't seen that CYC post since i "thought" I deleted it.

Yes,you guys are very much my friends and co-Lightfoot lovers as well . I know I don;t get here as much like before but I guess that comes with maturing. I was 34 when I found this, now I'm 44. I'm not exactly "slowing down" (heck no!) just a lot calmer than I was in '03.

Along with Corfid,I wouldn't trade my seeing
Gordon live or meeting him & his band and crew for anything. { :)
