Three local musicians nominated for Canadian country awards Three musicians with close ties to Waterloo Region have been nominated for 2012 Canadian Country Music Association Awards. Jason Barry, a guitarist, producer and studio owner (Jason Baines, Dean Brody/Aaron Lines), has been nominated in the guitar category. He won the category last year. Shane Guse (Jason Blaine, George Canyon) is a finalist in two categories — fiddle and mandolin. He won the fiddle category last year. Gordon Lightfoot’s longtime steel guitarist Ed Ringwald, also known as Pee Wee Charles (George Canyon), was nominated in the steel guitar category. He won the category last year. Ringwald and Guse are members of the Western Swing Authority, a local country supergroup. |
