Gordon,The Charts,The States and All of Us.

In the past we've talked about how we feel that Gordon desrved more than one #1 or even just more hits in general. This was speaking in terms Billboard Hot 100 singles.

I've checked into Lightfoot's overall chart stats on the "net"
and y'know....I think he did very well here in America, despite the "pop" hits ending in 1978. First off, yes,"Sundown" was his only #1 "pop" hit here but below are his "4" (count 'em!) 4 #1s on the AC chart.

After that,I've found the full list of his songs that made different charts in Billboard in the U.S. (Except for Bubbling Under),all courtesy of : http://www.allmusic.com/artist/gordo...lboard-singles ) Long time since I did a list anyway!

A part of my reply to Touhy :

Bubbling Under Chart: Outside the Hot 100
#101-You Are What I Am ("B" side of next song).

#102-That Same Old Obsession

and #111! - "If I Could". (Released by UA after "..Read My Mind" became a hit.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So all this considered,as well as how we've all bought his LPs,tapes,CDs & singles and gone to and still go to concerts, did he really need "dozens" of hit singles? I think not. I believe this is exactly what's made him special here in the states.

Understated, simplistic and songs on his LPs that are listener firendly/fan accessible.

A late birthday present to you Gordon. :) Happy holidays all!!! ;)
