Gord cover Survey
What cover sounds like Gord could have written it himself (not necessarily your fave)?
That includes those also performed but not necessarily recorded by him, live or in studio. |
Re: Gord cover Survey
Although I have actually never heard him perform it, I think Snow Blind Friend could have been a Gord song. Lines like this paint a picture much in the same way GL's songs do:
"He'll always be a problem for his poor and puzzled mother, and he'll always be another one of us." seems, to me at least, similar in tone to "Lord abide, let us stem the tide, of broken dreams, sometimes you seem to tell us, it's too late for praying" |

http://www.lightfoot.ca/unrecovs.htm Apparently it was recorded in the Don Quixote sessions but was never released. It is a Hoyt Axton song and was recorded by Steppenwolf. I have always really liked the song, but surprisingly (to me at least) it has not been covered much over the years. I would love have heard Lightfoot's take on it. |
