Gordon ignored by Vevo???

I was amazed when after seeing an intriguing headline Vevo, a popular US music video site, will finally launch in April 2011 in the UK, after a 12 month delay. in today's digital Daily Telegraph technology email and then after reading the article Vevo UK launch confirmed for April 2011 at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...pril-2011.html to find that there is a certain official music video website (in contrast to Youtube where the majority of music videos are breaking every copyright law) that I had never heard of before at http://www.vevo.com I was even more surprised to read therein "Hesse said that Vevo has about 60 million monthly unique users in the US, and that the site was the fourth most popular entertainment site on the internet, after YouTube, CBS and Viacom, according to the latest ComScore statistics." Not previously being one of those alleged 60 million I hastened to visit the web site and was naturally soon searching for videos by The Man. But I drew a blank despite the website's claim to feature no less than 8460 artists and 25.100 videos!! Yet there are several videos by similarly long haired Willie Nelson http://www.vevo.com/watch/willie-nel...d/USSM20402780 and the long toothed Robert Dylan-Zimmerman http://www.vevo.com/watch/bob-dylan/...r/USSM29500012 not to mention Scotland's own Rodney of the Stewart clan http://www.vevo.com/watch/playlist/7...lassics/6331#4 plus no less than 64 videos by a toothsome lady that Walter the Sober Rodent lusts after (and why not!!) http://www.vevo.com/watch/mariah-car...x/USSM20402676 Have any corfiddlers been visiting this website and/or has anybody any idea why there are as yet zero Lightfoot videos there?? there is an informative wiki at:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vevo but sad to say "The vevo.com website and iPhone app are currently not available outside the United States and Canada. The website was scheduled to go worldwide in 2010, but as of January 2011 it was still not available outside North America" It would seem that anybody in the UK will obviously have to wait a few months |

I think I have found the main answer In the wiki I noted that "Warner Music G roup was initially reported to be considering hosting its content on VEVO but subsequently formed a rival alliance with MTV Networks" Hence I suspect that GL will be included in whatever Youtube/Vevo equivalent website emerges from that alliance which is presumably the subject of this News Release apparently dated as long ago as September 2005 http://investors.wmg.com/phoenix.zht...0694&highlight= see also http://news.cnet.com/8301-31001_3-20009262-261.html "A music industry source said that Warner Music had spoken to music video portal Vevo about the possibility of that service selling Warner's ads" and "Warner Music is the only one of the four major record companies that has declined to join Vevo" |
