Forgotten Songs.
 

I thought I'd start a thread to psot sonng that have mostly been either forgotten old in some cases weren't big hits in the first place.

First song many are familiar with byt The Carpenters but this is one of a few versions of it that were recorded in the 60's.



This next piece I first heard in an old Sesame Street cartoon

Here is a ditty that was a huge "hot" (hit even!!) in the UK by a pioneering comedy group that inspired much of the great humoUr that followed it especially Monty Python. Rowan and Martin's Laugh In. You name it the Goons were their inspiration. Here is a classic Goon recording in an apparently rare video version,It was closely followed by the topical I'm Walking Backwards to Christmas

Don't know anything on this artist I've only heard this song on the interent.



Probably you know Carl from his 1974 hit "Kung Fu Fighting" but he was around long before that.

Jud Strunk was born in a town about 30 minutes away from me. He had one minor hit back in the 1970's (Daisy a day) and he died in a plane crash in 1981.

This forgotten (but unforgettable) ditty is one of his best performances.

where I read that she was born in Newark NJ, a hefty stone's throw from where I now am but she ended up in the UK with a musical. Also in the wiki was something that confirmed what I thought
"She worked as a session singer, most notably backing for Dusty Springfield (a.k.a.,Rusty Springbox)....
(she was one of I think three young sweet voiced chanteuses who provided backing vocals for scores of "hot" hit records; another was one of my favourites Lesley Duncan who sadly passed away last year)
...Madeline then joined contemporary pop combo Blue Mink, with whom she had a number of Top 20 hits with Philip Records in the UK, including "Melting Pot",

Ray Steven's while known for his goofy songs did have some rather serious songs.

Altough it says New Mexico I've heard West Texas elsewhere.

Sunset Love I've read recorded a few songs whicg didn't get released when first recorded though were released on some box set called "History of Texas Garage Bands."

Can a song be forgotten if you've never heard it before ?

Well anyway, a Lunar eclipse will take place VERY EARLY tomorrow (12/21) AM, visible, with clear skies, to all of North America. I read that this will be the first lunar eclipse to occur on the winter solstice since 1378.

Mom's brother, Sonny, used to sing Hank Snow songs, and he did them very well. He was probably one of the most musically talented men I've ever known. He played a very old Gibson guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, and played all of them well. I was just mesmerized by his music when I was a child. Sadly, he had to have his index finger on his left hand amputated, and gave his guitar to his son, hoping he'd carry on in his footsteps. The kids an idiot, though. He sold the 1960-ish Gibson to a pawn shop for $100. Just think what that guitar would be worth now!

I know someone who plays guitar with half of her middle finger missing. It's not her picking hand. She plays quite well.

I went to therapy with a guitar player who had the tip of his ring finger missing. He had trouble with the C chord, but he had fun playing, and that's what counts.
