Mariposa Folk acoustic trio set list suggestions?

1) I wondered which tunes (that GL can still deliver to his satisfaction) would be appropriate for this weekend's set list...Mariposa now included acts that are almost alt-folk or alt-country pop so it's not a requirement really

per Char's call with GL, we have:

SIT DOWN YOUNG STRANGER (a really terrific nostalgic selection)
THE PONY MAN (families will love it even if very similar to above tempo-wise and 'G chord based')
SONG FOR A WINTER'S NIGHT (a must at any GL performance, imo)
CHRISTIAN ISLAND (so perfect in that setting)

note: he didn't mention IF YOU COULD READ MY MIND during his phone chat but that is also G chord based...he said he couldn't SONG FOR CHAR (aka I'LL TAG ALONG;) ) since he already had too many G chord tunes

unsure how long the set is but I would consider adding these to the acoustic set:

MINSTREL OF THE DAWN (wouldn't this be a great set opener...sigh)
RESTLESS (A1, even without Barry's percussive ambience)
DON QUIXOTE (not my fave but need a to tapper in there)
FINE AS FINE CAN BE (i've come to prefer the simple guitar arrangement)
HOME FROM THE FOREST (the only 'new' tune recently added, terrific stuff)
RIBBON OF DARKNESS (need to have an old strumming tune or two)
EMR (a set without this one is like a day without sunshine, imo)

btw, the acoustic set the boys did at the Songwriter's gig were:

RAINY DAY PEOPLE
SHADOWS
LET IT RIDE

I'm not really sure what typifies the Folk genre or if any of the above 3 fit but the trio is obviously already on top of these from only a few months back...I enjoyed Shadows, as always

2)
ok, if you could have Ian, Sylvia, Murray, Gord and the rest of the reunitee's perform a GL song to rap the festival, what would it be?

i can't think of a GL one off hand but I've never heard GL's cover of Tyson's FOUR STRONG WINDS and think that would work well rotating verses, etc...or maybe Murray's FARMER'S SONG, lol...good singalong for the crowd

anyhow, GL said there won't be any group number final, duo or whatever

have a wonderful time, keep COOL, Char and Happy Birthday to you both! :)

well a group song could materialize..4 strong winds, the farmers song and early morning rain..
love it.

To wrap it up - gord et al could (in my delusional, almost 55 year old mind) sing Happy Birthday to MARIPOSA (50 years) and I could believe it was for me too..
yeah that would work for me...
;)

His set will probably be shorter than if he wa the only performer so I'm guessing C.I. will be done, IYCRMM too. Perhaps Restless - it's very well suited to the area..and then I'll Tag Along..just cuz..(he can forego SFAWN - it's a gawd-damn heat wave here!)

Hoping for beautiful weather, fabulous music and some wonderful new memories..(now there's an oxymoron if I ever saw one! )

Very hot here @ 9:04 am. Great day for Regis Philbin to fly in Moncton, show tonight @ Casino NB with wife Joy. I won 2 tickets for the show plus Buffet & meet & greet with Regis. Gaved them to 2 of my sisters who really are big fans of Regis.

Yes you are right Char, Roger Hodgson from Supertramp was there @ the beginning of the week & he praised the Centre. Three wide screens lighting & sound all state of the arts technology. Travis Tritt is sold out, Paul Anka is coming also; announced yesterday Gord Downie in October. Now Gord Lightfoot is what I would like to hear. ;)
