but the masterful way Rick builds up his bass guitar to a driving joining in on the same song superlative

i like Terry's lead acoustic guitar break in I'd Rather Press On (and nothing else about that recording)

i like the Rick's lead bass work that closes out Let It Ride

i like the lead bass session work (up on the neck) in Always on the Bright Side

i like Mike's sampled accordian work in the turnaround (and throughout) in the Harmony recording, as well as live

Mike's sampled fiddle break in Alberta Bound is always fun

Barry's ambience percussive work throughout Restless is signature Keane

his drumming at the end of In My Fashion is always something i anticipate

wonder if Gord ever used to take a lead, just for fun, during old tyme jams?

ahh...the question in the subject refers to an instrumental interlude and then in the post uses the 'break' term which is the same thing more or less...a musical break is a solo passage where a single instrument is featured or in some genres the other instruments would drop right out or be barely audible

i think your response is referring to your favourite 'pause'...which probably belong to your cats:cool:

i suppose the most renown GL pause is the one before the Daylight Katy choruses

hey, thanks for the feedback, joveski...i had no idea...as an aside, i do like Terry's plinky harmonics up o the neck of his guitar as that arrangement closes out

Terry Clements' lead guitar in "I'll Do Anything" is a favorite, although it gives the song a kind of Marty Robbins feel....
The electric guitar and steel riff in "She's Not The Same", is another favorite. There are lots of others.

misty, no i have failed as a teacher, lol... musically speaking, a break and a pause are not interchangeable terms

i think of Gord's 'pause' before the chorus in Daylight Katy as an fermata (when he plays it live anyhow)

a fermata is that symbol that looks like an upsidedown U with a dot in the middle

the definiton is 'To hold a tone or rest held beyond the written value at the discretion of the performer'

i find the guitar instrumental in Too Late for Praying very sedating

yeah, it's too bad the youtube/wmg police killed the original audio or you could see your pic come to life at about the 4:20 mark, where he has the crowd captivated during his TLFP work
