US Army Cover for Lightfoot

OK, this may be the most unusual cover of In the Early Morning Rain ever.

Go to Itunes and check out this artist: Marching to Cadence with the US Army Special Forces

No joke; the army covered Lightfoot!

Dollars to donuts, those men were probably going to eventually end uo in some place like Iraq or Afghanistan.

I think Char should lead us all in this march at the next Massey Hall weekend, as we go from to the pub jams and concerts!

Some unusual improv on the lyrics.

Next Massey will be in May - I'm ready for it..
Not so much in November, altho I did make the trek from the hotel to the jams/Massey/shopping many times over the course of 4 days this past November...

I am not 'fond' of the lyrics at all... not at all.

I don't think GL would necessarily object to the members of the armed forces "using" one of his songs in this manner as he has supported the troops. Also remembering the lyrics from Don Q:

"See the soldier with his gun who must be dead to be admired"

Gordon Lightfoot wrote those lyrics you quote ... that's the difference to me.

Whether he'd object or not is unknown, regardless of his support for the troops.
