Re: An interesting syllogism
But Ron, we'll always be somebody to us!!!
now for my research... syllogism (sîl´e-jîz´em) noun 1. Logic. A form of deductive reasoning consisting of a major premise, a minor premise, and a conclusion; for example, All human beings are mortal, the major premise, I am a human being, the minor premise, therefore, I am mortal, the conclusion. 2. Reasoning from the general to the specific; deduction. 3. A subtle or specious piece of reasoning. |

found a new word today as a result of this very educational thread... ++++++++++++++++++ " specious " specious (spê´shes) adjective 1.Having the ring of truth or plausibility but actually fallacious: a specious argument. 2.Deceptively attractive. [Middle English, attractive, from Latin speciosus, from speciês, appearance, from specere, to look at.] - spe´ciously adverb - spe´cios´ity (-shê-òs´î-tê) or ++++++++++++++++++ I kind of like that "#2.Deceptively attractive." definition! |
