An interesting syllogism

I am nobody. Nobody is perfect. Therefore, I must be perfect.

Feel better ?

But Ron, we'll always be somebody to us!!!

now for my research...

syllogism (sîl´e-jîz´em) noun
1. Logic. A form of deductive reasoning consisting of a major premise, a minor premise, and a conclusion; for example, All human beings are mortal, the major premise, I am a human being, the minor premise, therefore, I am mortal, the conclusion.
2. Reasoning from the general to the specific; deduction.
3. A subtle or specious piece of reasoning.

found a new word today as a result of this very educational thread...

++++++++++++++++++

" specious "

specious (spê´shes) adjective
1.Having the ring of truth or plausibility but actually fallacious: a specious argument.
2.Deceptively attractive.

[Middle English, attractive, from Latin speciosus, from speciês, appearance, from specere, to look at.]
- spe´ciously adverb
- spe´cios´ity (-shê-òs´î-tê) or

++++++++++++++++++

I kind of like that "#2.Deceptively attractive." definition!

Believe it or not, it was this sort of thing that would always have me stumped for hours when I was a kid. It would also drive my mum up the walls whenever she would try to explain it to me, so she just left it to me to figure out on my own. And that was when I had long since graduated from high school at that!!!:)

That reminds me that I was once told how to confuse an Irishman
you show him a spade and a shovel then tell him to take his pick
alternatively
and for good measure here is another controversial topic

Oops a daisy
No mention of the Emerald Isle would be complete without a picture of a genuine Irish Mug!!!
