i've always loved this song, and listening to Sunday Concert today, i was wondering Gord (or someone) mumbles at the start of the tune/album?. its drowned out by the applause and music..... any ideas??

It's completely muffled, but if I had to guess I'd say "This one's for you Pete"

This is no doubt one of those "mis-heard" lyrics. I've always thought Gord said, "Ericman studio"....and then he repeats himself...which of course makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. On the lighter side, it wouldn't be the first time Gord said something on stage that didn't make sense...at least to those listening. (Sounds like we are in agreement that he used the word "man", however.) Perhaps CSI could help us out.

I just listened to it, and it sounds like an undecipherable word, "class", and a word with a long e sound. I agree that he then repeats whatever it was he said. So basically, I'm no help!

I've listened to that a lot, and always felt he was saying "One who passed through" which I think makes total sense. He seems to be telling the band what the next song is, and he calls it "one who passed through" (a line in the chorus) instead of the actual title of the song. He does that a lot onstage, when he's giving a cue to the band, as a shortcut to the title of the song.
