Shuttin' Detroit Down

A link to a music video for a John Rich tune.

I think it's neat that Kristofferson and Mickey Rourke agreed to participate ; I doubt that they received any prizes.

My daughter lisa mentioned this to me the other day-she loves John Rich and I love Kris..
Kris is (and always awas) a 'social cause' kinda guy/songwriter.
Don't know about Mickey Rourke but they both did a good job .. well done!

I live in Durham Region (Whitby) where GM/Chrysler is and things are tough for a lot of folks.
Durham Region is a major centre of the Canadian automobile industry. Oshawa is the Canadian headquarters of General Motors and home of GM's largest plant in North America. In addition, the Canadian headquarters of both BMW and Volkswagen are located in the Region. It is also home to many parts suppliers which will be equally as devastated by the decline in the auto industry.
Several thousand people have been laid off in the last few years.

i wish in the real world, all those laid off were off Kris's age (and not in their 40s, 50s) with 30 year severance packages and corresponding pension entitlements...it would be some consolation

i don't know what sort of union is depicted in this video, but what happened to union seniority, bumping rights, etc?

those repo guys sure work quickly...what an occupation

i understand Rourke wasn't paid for the Wrestler, he did it solely as a revival investment and so far paying dividends

i remember when Mickey looked prettier than John Rich

hoping for best to all our members, their family & friends

Tell me about it. I can relate to this video because, as John Prine wrote, "Same Thing Happened To Me" (different industry). Over twenty-four years of service and "poof (!)", it was history. And Baby....did I ever step back.

But it's all good......what else can it be ?
