Aren't they missing the most glamorous one of all?
At the 4:50 mark, Martin Short asks the question and is referring to himself, of course...but I've seen this Oh Canada film twice at the Epcot theatre and when they show entertainer faces on the 360 screen, I have been unable to see Gordon Lightfoot! how do these guys make the list but not Gord: keenu reeves kim catrell avril lavigne matthew perry william shatner leslie neilson paul shaeffer btw, this new version of the film has the fresh recording performed by Ava Evila, not bad....or maybe it's Eva Avila:kiss: so char, who do we send a petition to? did Walt have a son? also, I noticed on the mind torturing It's a Small World ride that they dwarf people or animals from every country except I never saw a Mountie or hockey player or Gord munchkin or moose or beaver (even a duck billed platypus made the cut in the Australia section)...I only noticed a totem pole...is that our claim to fame? lol.... ok, it's actually a captivating little ride (as long as you don't go on it several times in a row, ugh) and am sure it's been around forever...but again, a petition needs to be initiated |

At least if you eat at "Canada" in Epcot, you get to hear lots of great GL tunes. It's all instrumental, but it will do.

The only problem is that Canada isn't exactly known for its food! I usually eat at France ...

I've been to the Marrakesh restaurant twice...mainly for that Marrakesh Express mystery beverage, the haShishbebobs and the belly dancing...I was totally exhausted and was actually craving a cigarette after watching a Shakira (must have been before she bleeched her hair) finish up her routine:clap: not to get further off topic, but imo, the best part of that park was watching a 4 year old 'scream'/totally freak out on that Soarin experience...i take this opportunity to apologize to the other 48 folks sharing that chamber...i will be mailing you all brand new ear drums as a scolding, the next day I took him on Tower of Terror:cool: |
Re: Aren't they missing the most glamorous one of all?
poor Harrison..lol
Disneyland/world has never been and is not on my list of places to go in my lifetime. I don't know who we'd contact - Ministry of Tourism probably. I've read other articles about the film. I can only suppose they feel that featuring more 'relevant to the times' artists is the way to go for Americans and non-canadians to connect with Canadian talent. And probably a lot of Canadians as well who sadly don't realize that there are others who can be featured besides the Canadians who no longer live here or who are flash in the pan talents.. |
Re: Aren't they missing the most glamorous one of all?
We we're at Epcot last week and entered the Canadian pavlion to the sweet strains of TWOTEF. I also thought there would at least be a quick shot of GL somewhere in the movie, but I guess not!

Re: Aren't they missing the most glamorous one of all?
nope - not gonna change my mind...I appreciate the 'stuff' that goes into the creation of the park (and Disney movies etc.) I don't go on rides, hate standing in line and I'm not one for the Disney fantasy/happiest place on earth, razzle dazzle hype/commercialism.
and there's way too many kids there.. lol |
Re: Aren't they missing the most glamorous one of all?
Yeah, when we go it's the first week in November where almost everyone in the park is from New Jersey because a lot of kids have that week off. Quiet week.
