Edmond Fitzgerald song not being sang at concert in Sault Ste Marie!!
 

I am totally disgusted when I just read the local news! We are located where the Edmond Fitzgerald sunk, and Gordon Lightfoot is performing here in April.
The news says that he won't be singing that song!?!!?!? What the hell is that all about? It happened here? I bought tickets, just to hear him sing that song, and now, he's claiming he won't be singing it?
I'm so disgusted!!

I wonder about your new source and it's accuracy. 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' is a staple in his repertoire and I'd be surprised if he doesn't perform it unless he feels it would be in poor taste at a venue so close to the tragic event or has been asked not to include it by whatever powers that be. Has anyone else at Corfid heard of this??

We attended two Gord concerts in September 1998 in Sault. St. Marie... one of which was a semi-private dinner concert that included family members of the Edmund Fitzgerald and Dennis Hale, the sole survivor of the Daniel Morrell freighter that sank in Lake Huron in November 1966.

Gord performed the "Edmund Fitzgerald" at both of these concerts. Maybe Mr. Fiedler (the Canadian tour performer) is generating some publicity to sell out the concert?

My wife and I have tickets for the April 18 concert and will give a full report to Corfid upon our return.

The pertinent part of the news article:

"... when Lightfoot ends the Canadian leg of his 2009 tour at the Essar Center, **he's planning a special introduction** for the second-most-popular song of his career,..."

Does not sound like he's dropping TWOTEF but adding a special intro.
