I was fortunate to see Odetta perform at the Greek Theatre in L.A. back in 1970. She had an incredible, powerful, and very distinctive voice. May she rest in peace...

her last performance was at Hugh's Room in Toronto (where the Lightfoot trib shows are held)
Hugh’s Room Weekly Newsletter December 4-10, 2008 Hugh’s Room 2291 Dundas Street West, Toronto, Ontario Box Office 416.531.6604 IN MEMORIAM The Hugh's Room family is deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend Odetta on Dec 2, 2008. Those of us who saw her performance at the room just 6 weeks ago could not have known we were witnessing her very last stage show, but we did know we were in the presence of a truly great human being and an inspiring performer. She touched us all and we will miss her greatly. “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…let it shine…let it shine…let it shine." |
