Borderstone, congratulations on your 1st flight. Airports are now a real pain in the rear to deal with but once on the plane it's pretty smooth. I fly to Denver and San Diego quite often. When getting ready to land I always ask myself "now just how far would I have traveled by now if I had driven?"

A tip about Humphrey's by the bay. The seats generally suck. They're jammed to close together in all directions. If you get there early enough you'll be able to sit on the wall which is stage right. It's a great place to sit and it does fill up fast.

If you get there REAL early like around 3 or 4, you'll be able to watch the band go through their sound checks, partial songs, etc. You do have to be a little discreet though. Gord and the band are usually pretty accessible at this venue. It's easy to get autographs or just say "hey".

Have a great time!

Glad to know you had the opportunity to experience flight  and are able to get together with some nice folks and get to go to these GL concerts!!!

Well maybe you'll get addicted to flying...like my son lol! Though he 1st flew when he was just 3 months and as a toddler...and then the flight to Disney when he was 8, he doesn't recall really. So last Fall he flew to Kentucky and proclaimed his love of flying. But then he flew overseas last January and he was ok with it except for all the turbulence...he couldn't read nor sleep. And then all this running around to 3 terminals in Germany...he said was a pain.

Enjoy, enjoy and have a great flight home!!!

Re: Borderstone More Than L.A. Bound!

Hello all! Just back from the Humphrey's/San Diego show. :) Got to post this PDQ bcause it's just after 11pm and I have a flightback to Phx. in the morning.

No,GJA,these are not my first shows. ;) My first two were n 2002 and 2007. They are however, the first I've done something like this to see. Not sure about "getting addicte o flying",it was quite the emotional experience for me. ...but,i came through the first flight okay,90 mins. in the air, landing at LAX @ 9:30am. (Very quiet there for a Saturday).

This was my fist time in LA,with the exception of the Universal Studios tour in 1979 at age 11. The freeways rival the Indy 500 for sure! Anyhow,it was great to see real & plentiful trees, flowers and greenery (unlike Phoenix). Even raveld on the "Ventura Highway" made famous by "America".

Well, the Canyon Club/Aguora hills show was very good. The club is big but because it's a "supper club" type setting,it's unusual in seting for me. I'm not complaing for sure though,I was sitting '7ft. from Gordon! He & the guys opened wth "Triangle" and went through many concert standards, which were great as always. The greatest & out of left field moment, was when he sang a song he's rarely sung in a modern show......the classic
"Me and Bobby McGee"! To the delight of just about everyone.

Today, after a jaunt down the coastline,I found myself in San Diego for the first time in 18 years! Last time I was here, was for a vacation in the summer of 1990. Which was also the last time I saw the ocean! Just after 3:30pm,I caught sight of it for the first time since then. I later touched the ocean too, smelled great! LOL!

Well, after dinner at Humphrey's the show started and although chilly Gordon 7 the guys di an even beter show than the night before. This is not just a compliment because what I saw tonight is hands down the best GL show I've ever seen! Even topping last year's 01/2007 show. Gordon sang every song like he was on a mission to give a 100% entertaining show for his audience.
The guys did a fantastic job too.

Especially,"Restless","Shadows","If children Had Wings","Baby Step Back" (which gord looked fierce on!) and another surprise choice "The Watchman's Gone". Bravo Gord & crew, awesome job tonight! Maybe it was the black Goron wore in the 2nd half?? LOL!!

Anyhow,it was really great meeting my fellow Lightheads,Brink,Rex,Claudia,Richard,Kirsten,Cathy and many more!. ;) If i forgot your name,I apologize, such a big weekend. Tahnsk again to Brink & Dream Street Rose for making it all happen. I could never "really" re-pay your kindnesses.

Bye all! beddy by time for me. :) No...let's see, whee is my Teddy Bear?

You have a lot more guts than I do. I haven't been on a plane since '81 or '82, when I flew from Dallas to Little Rock after having spent a couple of weeks there(in Dallas)one freakin' cold November. I'm telling you, it was nearly a week before my hearing was back to normal.

Re: Borderstone More Than L.A. Bound!

Okay, I'm on lunch break (or given that it's night "dinner") and I have mroe time to post.

Well T.T. I don't know if it was guts or whatever came over me to actualy consider flying in the first place.

Maybe it could even just be,that life gets boring (and I mean "BOR-ING!") after a great while of letting fear stand in the way of things that can be enjoyable. I'm not saying I had a jubuliant flight but I simply "just did it".

Like that expression "Just Do It" y'know? I used to think that was just some expression that young people made up as an excuse to do dumb things but in this case it's actually a truth.

Maybe also the added incentive of an enjoyable weekend too. Given what a nice time I had,i most assuredly would be kicking myself ten-fold,had I not done this...scared as I was.
I have a great feeling of pride in myself for doing so and appreciate how happy I am,knowing that I came home to my family.

I did have that "kid" kind of thing where you feel,"I'll never see them again" and I was somewhat sad heading to CA but once I touched ground there and then here,I knew God had been my co-pilot. :) I gave my brother the hugest hug! LOL! I will hugely hug my other brother & Mom Saturday when I see them.

As for the post on Brink's PC,I tried to post it twice but it wouldn't go. She someho retrieved it and got it to go through in her acount. Thanks Deb! :) ......For everything.

Re: Borderstone More Than L.A. Bound!

Just wrapping up this thread,I just wanted to thank Dream Street Rose for also making me a wonderful and special button/pin with the photo of Gordon & I outside the Orpheum in Jan. of '07. :)

I've worn it all week. ;) Lastly,as I metioned in the "more dates" thread,I can't make the Phoenix show tonight but the two last weekend more than fill in for it.

Hopefully in the near future,I'll be able to do things like this more often and independently. I think the flight(s) have opened my eyes to the fact that,I "can" do things,if I just try harder & not let fears stand in the way.

If anyone's attending PHX tonight,I'm sorry I missed you. Enjoy yourselves. ;) Bye,now.
