Rialto, Joliet Illinois :)
hi all!!!!
My time online here at the Joliet Public Library is limited (35 minutes remaining!!!). I started catching up on posts here and quickly realized I better get going on with my own here and will catch up when I get back home. A wonderful, fabulous, top notch polished performance by Gordon and the band at the gorgeous, historic Rialto theatre!!!!!! Oh man! For the 1st time in all the tours these past couple of years...I didn't have to strain to pick out Gordon's guitars....could more clearly hear Gordon's beautiful guitars and beautiful playing :). Some nice picking and WOW this was a thrill. And his vocals...WOW again!!! I'm guessing the volume was up on the mic this time, and is how we got to hear his guitar-playing and SUPERB vocals loud and clear. If Gordon had wanted to, I believe he could have reached into the old range on "Beautiful" last night :). In all the songs he did, I could easily hear the warm, rich tones of his voice -they weren't lacking, that's for sure!! |

Hey Pam, sounds like you had a great time - thanks for sharing the experience with all of us. :) Drive carefully on your trip home!

Re: Rialto, Joliet Illinois :)
whoa...I sure wrote a lot and now am thinking what I may have left out. Well at least one person read through this :) haha Vickie :)!! gee and all I had for breakfast that morning was whatever Mentos were leftover from the roll I bought at the theatre, and 2 cups of hotel room coffee! Which was much better than the pork tenderloin sandwich I ended up having for lunch, blah.
ok so some other highlights from the show - "Let it Ride"...Rick's bass really shined in this song. Let's see ah - Gordon once again really brings down the house with IYCRMM. Jokes and talking - this was the most I think I've heard from Gordon on stage and the audience loved this (including moi). He told the hare, Elvis and Fitz jokes! Guess that's about all there is to tell! I had a nice time exploring this little city (mainly architecture) and found a few gems, including the Rialto of course. Long drive home and was overstoked after a stop at Pilot in PA heading into the last leg towards home. Good road trip though. |

Hey Pam! Yup, I read through it, and enjoyed it. :) By the way, thanks for saying "hey" to my favorite Beatle. LOL

The theatre sounds fabulous. All of these great old places are so perfect for a lIghtfoot concert.
Your batteries/keys etc. escapades would make a good "I Love Lucy" episode.. lol It seems IYCRMM garners huge fan reaction most nights..he soars with that song.. |

Many people I've mentioned this too here in Moncton all agree. The Capitol has been restored to it's 1920's. Valdy really likes performing there, as so many others. They now have a 2000 seat new State of the Arts theatre in Moncton but it is in a church. Im going to check that out this winter when they do "The Living Christmas Tree." I have not seen it yet... :) |

Hi Pam,
Sounds like a great show and beautiful venue. :) I think that would be me you need to wave at when you drive through Indiana...lol. Patti lives in WI. Glad all turned out well for you. Hey, we all read your stuff. Keep writing...lol. :) |
