I nearly fell off my chair
at the breakfast table this morning because I saw Gord's name in the Sunday Parade magazine under the "Personality Parade" section on page 2. The question, posed by Pat Barker of Lindenhurst IL, reads: "I recently attended a concert by folk legend Gordon Lightfoot and was sad to see the change in his once ruggedly handsome appearance. What happened?"
[me, in my best blistering editorial voice replied: Time, you idiot - was your last concert in the 70s?] The ACTUAL reply: "In 2002 Lightfoot suffered a ruptured aortic aneurysm, similar to the condition that killed actor John Ritter. He endured six weeks in a coma, four surgeries, and two years of extensive rehab. Now 69 and enjoying a busy schedule, Lightfoot is preparing for a 'live' CD based on his reent concerts in Toronto." |
Re: I nearly fell off my chair
I'd say that you hit the proverbial head on the nail there. And I think that the reply that the editors of the Personality column said, essentially the same thing, but added a few details. I think what really surprises me is the fact that the person who wrote the letter to the magazine obviously doesn't keep up with his, or her, current events, otherwise they wouldn't have asked such a boneheaded question. Sheesh!!!
