Farm Aid -,Massachusetts
Just heard that Farm Aid is coming to Massachusetts. So far, performers are Mellencamp, Willie Nelson, Neil Young and Dave Matthews.
The show will be Sept. 20 at the Comcast Center in Marshfield. This is the same night as Gordon's concert in Northampton, which I have plans to go to, but probably I'll go to Farm Aid to support all my friends and neighbors who own farms in New England. The week before, another NE Farm Relief concert... Pete Seeger in Burlington, VT. |
Re: Farm Aid Massachusetts
This is good to hear, Pam.
The farms are fading fast around here. So many family farms are gone and the big corporations are taking over the land...it's sad:( Mellencamp rocks hard and has such a good heart. I love that guy:) Hope you have a great time which ever show you decide on:) |

I've never been to a Mellencamp concert and haven't seen Neil Young in concert since many years ago (and only have in Massachusetts). Am pleased that the farms in my old neighborhood have survived, though they've had to adapt over the years. Sometimes I miss seeing cows in my backyard and the smell of freshly-cut hay. The other smells, I don't miss so much. Chicken chit is the worst of all. |
Re: Farm Aid Massachusetts
Hi Pam
Hope you can find a way to go to both shows....that would be a good time:) Lots of changes on the rural scene no matter where you live. We have so many new houses around us that I can hardly believe it. I used to be able to walk in the woods or along the creek and never run into another person. Not now, it's kind of like a park some days...lol. I guess you can't stop people from wanting to move out away from the suburbs. I miss the isolation we used to have but the good part of it is that we are getting some really nice new neighbors. A few families from New York and a couple from California...really good people that are growing into good friends. Nothing is all bad, so we can only hope for the best:) Cows in the back yard....lol. Yep, I have had that more than once...and horses plus a few deer. I take long walks in the evenings, and I was telling Patti the other day about seeing a baby calf being born....very beautiful moment. I visit it every night now...lol. It's very cute! Smells...yes, chickens are the worst! We had a chicken farm down the road and I was so happy when they finally moved it farther away. Whew...fresh country air:) Hey, have a great time at those shows:) |
