Anyone ever watch Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Not sure if there are any fans of this show, but here is a video of a guy who actually managed to cheat on the show! (Charles Ingram is the contestant). BTW, this is the British version of the show. |
Re: Anyone ever watch Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Ha, ha. That's funny. His lady friend coughs when he says the correct answer while mulling over the choices. My question is, how does she know all the right answers? Is she that smart, or is she looking them up somehow?

Re: Anyone ever watch Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
I don't know about that, as I feel that it can't possibly take that much brain power to answer some of those dipsticky questions. All I DO know is that after a while, as I had finally got sick to death of seeing Regis Philbins doofus face, I stopped watching it. There were times that it actually bored me to sleep!

At one point (I think on question #14) you hear someone else cough, then someone whispers "no!! very loudly. :D BTW, I always liked Regis Philben. He was better than the woman we have now. |

I used to watch that show in prime time but in the past 4 years (or more) it's only on at Noon or 4 in the afternoon here in Phoenix. I'm just leaving work then.
Deal Or No Deal has eclipsed it since it left the network. |

Re: Anyone ever watch Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
I still enjoy the show when I take the time to view it. The questions usually start with something as inane as :
Gordon Lightfoot was born in which of these countries ? A. United States B. Canada C. Japan D. A Nike store near you Then gradually, they escalate to : The square root of the atomic weight of carbon is roughly equivalent to the number of kilometers in how many miles ? Merideth, I'm going to take my $4000 dollars and walk. Final answer. |

Yes, those first questions are always insanely easy. The easiest I'd ever seen was 'how many legs did a spider have?'. I think the choice "D" was 11 and a half. |

Re: Anyone ever watch Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Yep TT,I love watching that show. It gets frustrating a bit because no one's won the $1,000,000 yet but it is exciting when you "think" they have it in the case.
The rules are easy. It's just a game of chance & luck. They pick one case they think has the million and choose the rest trying to knock out every doller amount "but" the million. The banker tries to make a deal with them to sell it for less, with his offers. If the client does sell, then Howie reveals if they beat the banker or not. If their case is shown to have say $10 and they sold it for $20,000 the made a good deal,if it were the opposite it's a bad deal. The main thing is to keep going during the game no matter how many huge numbers of money you knock out. Some go on after knocking out the million to try and win the next biggest amount. Some have won big, some have won nothin and some have even quit, even though the million was in their case. Pretty easy really. |

Re: Anyone ever watch Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
There was no technical wizardry involved, the Major was assited by another contestant one, Tecwen Whittock.
Whittock has suffered from a persistent cough for his entire life, and insisted that he had a genuine cough caused by a combination of hay fever and a dust allergy and that it was only "coincidence" that his throat problem coincided with the right answer. However, during the trial the jury heard evidence that once Whittock himself was picked to sit in the hot seat, his throat problems disappeared. Whittock later testified that he drank several bottles of water before he went in front of the cameras. Whittock also insisted that he had not known the answers to three of the questions he allegedly helped with. However, the police found the answer to question number 12 regarding the artist who painted, The Ambassadors in a hand-written general knowledge book at his home, along with the answer to question number 10 regarding the album, Born to Do It. Davis, the floor manager, said that as soon as the coughing came to his notice during the recording he decided to find out who was responsible. 'The loudest coughing was coming from Tecwen in seat number three', he claimed. 'He was talking to the person to his left when I was observing him, and then he turned towards the set and the hot seat to cough.' Whittock said in court that 'you do not cough into someone's face' . Despite searching for any form of assistance during the recording Davis did not notice the word 'no' or deduce that coughing was assisting Ingram. During the trial, Whittock portrayed himself as a, 'serial quiz show loser' However, Whittock twice won the Wales heat of Brain of Britain (on BBC Radio 4) and in one semi-final was only narrowly beaten into runner-up spot by quiz legend Daphne Fowler. When the Major's effort was transmitted it was obvious he was getting help. |
