For anybody here unaccustomed to keeping tabs on the small talk forum pleased be advised that due to the antics and silly atttude of my stoopid dial-up internet connection I am quite unable to start a new thread there or here
all Icould get was a plainly lying "unable to display this webpage or even worse "done"
I wanted to make a Lightfoot related comment on the passing of revered veteran UK jazzman "Humph"
Humphrey Lyttelton on April 26 who "died following surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm
I got so incensed by the problem that I very nearly gave up the struggle but then n found that I could open an existing topic and use the quick reply feature which I did appending my comments to my existing small talk "John's Blog " opus at:-

This is too bad John, I cant wait for the day when your stoopid dial-up internet connection is no more.

I cant imagine the frustration of having such a pest.

When I bought this first computer of mine I was on High Speed and for the past year or so, they offered Ultra High Speed, which I quickly took advantage of. :)

You would think that dial up in 2008 would be a thing of the past...

I feel your pain, John. :( I live in an area where high speed isn't available, and at times I just want to toss the computer right out the window out of frustration!

Many thanks Vickie and Omer for your commiserations.
Hopefully in a few weeks this as you said frustration will be over although we will no doubt continure to be frustrated for eons
by Verizon's annoying and over the ruddy top New York television advertising every 10 ruddy minutes for their desirable FiOS fibre optic service. This is inexplicably unavailable in our heavily populated area in New Jersey near Newark a hefty stone's throw from NYC but is available within less than 20 miles and of course in the State Capital of Trenton.
I apologise to anybody confused by this thread's title I tried to correct my pasting in error but the slow witted connection refused
to play ball resulting in your two replies bearing the original incorrect title

I know what you're talking about. There have been times in the past where I've often wanted to drop kick the machine out the front door when that sort of nonsense happens. Now that I'm using my nephews laptop, I've only had it happen once or twice, so I'm now more determined than ever to get myself a laptop.
