potts head

I noticed that Brit reality tv winner, Paul Potts surprisingly covers an REM tune on his album, really quite beautiful actually, imo and other's anyhow

I wondered if he attempted to cover a GL song in that same opera style, if any versions might be tolerable, or maybe even powerful and wonderful

hmm, Message to the Wind melody could fit the genre ...any suggestions, even just for kicks?

anyhow, Potts seems like a fine chap and just happened to be in T.O. earlier on...you go guy

ok ok enuf about Paul Potts ;) ... how about Russell Watson - a brilliant voice. He is currently recovering from brain surgery following removal of a brain tumour. For a while it was touch and go but he is fighting back. However, his future as a tenor is uncertain at the moment. Did the surgery affect the important bits that matter? When he collapsed he was at the studios recording his latest album.

I agree with you Bru...Russell Watson is rightly called "The Voice"!

For anyone who has not heard him sing, you should treat yourself and give him a listen...even if you don't like operatic stuff, you'll recognize his talent. (And, he does some "contemporary" music, too.)

The latest news on his recovery from this second brain surgery was recently posted on his website:

I truly hope that this is not his last album!

enuf about Potts? not really sure what that means, is he all over the UK tabloids or something?

LOL...until last week I didn't know anybody had heard of him over here, not I anyhow

this thread wasn't about who the best opera singers are, i certainly wouldn't have a clue

it was just a fun poll to see if any GL tunes might lend themself to this genre the way Potts had done so with REM's Everybody Hurts composition...i coudl go for a few GL melodies crooned in other languages such as Italian or whatever...give us a few bars, Bru :p

anyhow, good luck to this other dude :)
