I thought that I had previously mentioned a great software "giveaway" site at:-
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/img/ga-logo-text.gif that I had stumbled upon but now find that I failed to do so.It is at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/ whose website declares:- Giveaway of the day - what's that? "Well, that's a convenient initiative allowing you to get the best commercial software titles - for free. Every day we offer licensed software you'd have to buy otherwise, for free! Yes, we are giving away software, and you can download it from our site, right now and right here and our goal is to give away every good piece of software, sooner or later" Since finding it by accident recently I am now checking the site every day and intend bringing any free downloads that appear useful to your attention. Please note that you will only have until midnight on the day I post details to grab any program that takes your fancy for free Today is a free download of a useful back up program that I already have as it was included with a super little USB external hard drive http://images.tigerdirect.com/skuima...-1084-main.jpg I bought the 80 Gigabyte version for $80.00 (nett after the accursed mail in rebate/scam) last year from my favourite online store http://www.ecost.com Anyway the program is called Giveaway of the Day - Backup4all Lite http://www.backup4all.com/ File Size: 9.24 MB Price: Backup4all Lite is available for $19.95, but it will be free for our visitors as a time-limited offer. You can download and install it now. Please note that you have to install it before the Giveaway offer for Backup4all Lite is over. whilst posting about free software, I have collected many very useful programs most of which appear to be perfectly sanitary and bug free although one has to be careful as some insist on installing unwanted other rubbish, like useless toolbars or other surfing aids and sometimes malware. I intend writing a suitable "tips' page in due course but meanwhile one of the best sources for information is Ian "Gizmo" Richards fantastically well researched pages "Tech Suuport Alert: at:- http://www.techsupportalert.com/contact.htm he has a pair of listings 1.The 46 Best-ever Freeware Utilities at:- http://www.techsupportalert.com/best..._utilities.htm with a link to:- 247-103 latest additions to the list http://www.techsupportalert.com/best_46_extended.htm all very nicely listed by category as you can see :- http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/tutorials/gizmo.jpg John Fowles [ June 11, 2007, 09:20: Message edited by: johnfowles ] |
Today's giveaway could be most useful, in my case for enhancing tutorials by helping make them into a video presentation
It has not excaped my notice that a number of people have made such videos already and uploaded them to youtube, where like every other uploaded video file they are automatically converted to and stored in the ultra compressed flash video format *.flv. This giveaway can as you can read below create flash video demos to create product/procedure tutorials. Indeed a simple search on youtube for "tutorial" produces 109.000 results such as Photoshop Tutorial: How to Create a Web 2.0-Style Logo linmiting the search to "dvd tutorials" for example reduces this to a more manageable 611 including for example:- Window vista DVD tutorial Review "This is a great DVD tutorial for windows vista beginers." Time: 06:25 at:- youtube even has a "Howto & DIY' cartegory which includes gems such as:- How To Be Healthy in a Hip Restaurant 2: What to Order? at:- a tutorial that is allegedly over 3 minutes but for me ended after only 7 seconds in which:- "Diet.com presents How To Be Healthy in a Hip Restaurant with Bethenny Frankel at STK in the Meat Packing District in Manhattan New York. In the second part of this series Bethenny gives her best advice on how to order healthy. From snacking before to desert after, we'll give you the best diet tips for your figure" http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/images/restaurant.jpg __________________________________________________ ____________________________________ OK enough food for thought as it were today's giveaway is Wondershare DemoCreator which " is a handy screen recording tool that captures full desktop screens, windows or regions. You can add images, annotation and narration to enhance and publish it as a flash video demo. It gives you the easy way to create software demonstrations, screencasting, presentations, product tutorials and interactive training." the link you need is.:- http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/democreator/ where you can also read Wondershare DemoCreator captures on-screen actions for making software tutorials, presentations, and game shows. With wide range of functions and features you can manage those tough jobs easier than ever! Wondershare DemoCreator Features

It never ceases to amaze me that a large number of computer geeks write much wonderful and usable programs and then make
it available to all as freeware, and another such group are prepared to monitor these offerings and publicise them for everbody's benefit I thought that I had previously mentioned Ian "Gizmo" Richards super site http://www.techsupportalert.com/contact.htm but the less than 100% reliable/efficient corfid search system couldn't find it so please bear with me whilst I repeat the details (I had typed them up before I found this topic that the silly corfid search system failed miserably to do) Ian has assembled a stunning list of The 46 Best-ever Freeware Utilities all beautifully listed by category at:- http://www.techsupportalert.com/best..._utilities.htm with a link to 47-103 latest additions to the list http://www.techsupportalert.com/best_46_extended.htm I also refound a reference in another magazine to a site that archives programs that were once freeware http://www.johnfowles.org.uk/images/freeware.jpg and I have just found a pair more such sites that are worth knowing about if you are searching for freeware or indeed ideas for programs that just might be useful to you First a link I found in a brilliant UK DVD magazine that itself had 2 cover CDs crammed witn useful DVD creation programs and had an advert for a sister publication called PC Utilities who have a website devoted to freeware at:- http://www.magnesiummedia.com/pcutilities/ "Now featuring 24,365 programs" you will have to register (free) to use it the other site was featured in Gizmos latest newsletter and is:- http://www.portablefreeware.com/ that site comprises some 20 pages containing 100 freeware programmes that you might want to include on a USB "key" drive such as the 2 GB Ultra flydrive I bought on special offer thanks to their rebate scheme/scam for mere $9.99 from one of my favourite online storesTiger Direct http://images.tigerdirect.com/SKUima...m/ULT40004.jpg from their site Ultra FlyDrive USB 2.0 Portable Drive Ultra’s new FlyDrive USB flash drive series brings high-data transfer rates and plenty of storage to your digital artillery. These sleekly designed USB flash drives come in an assortment of capacities. You can practically carry an entire office’s worth of paperwork, along with images and other data on an Ultra FlyDrive USB flash drive. Perfect if you’re highly mobile. Wherever you fly, you can take the Ultra FlyDrive USB flash drive with you Perfect for people like Walter who have to surf in a library,or if you have to use an internet cafe whilst on vacation as we did once down under recently My one criticism of the Portable Freeware site is that the programs are listed in what seems to be a random manner and no attempt is made to provide even a basic index or category guide but the search box works so use it to locate any of the programs I will mention below that might interest you
