Two years ago I attended the concerts of Al Stewart (in Carson City, Nevada) and Nickel Creek (in Reno). They were both very good events. Sunday April 29, Nickel Creek will return to Reno, and Al Stewart will have a free concert in Reno the following weekend, May 6. It's cool to live in a town which has so many shows and concerts.

Oh, your so lucky. I LOVE Al Stewart's music. I don't think he ever comes to Maine, or anywhere close.

Al Stewart played in Maine at the Flye Point Music Festival in Brookin, Maine on June 24th, 2006.

His new CD, "A Beach Full Of Shells" is pretty good. My favorite on the CD is "Rain Barrel".

Most people know Al Stewart as a pop icon from the 1970's with his hits Year of the Cat, and Time Passages, but his excellent work extends way beyond those pop hits. In the 1990's his CD releases of "Down in the cellar," "Famous last words," "Between the Wars," and then "Beach full of shells" in 2005, show his superb lyrical style, combining historic events with acoustic guitars. You can sing along with his songs, because you can understand the lyrics! What a concept, in today's world of music. And now to brag, I chatted with him after his Carson City concert in 2005.Dave Nachmanoff was there too.

Where's Brookin? I've never heard of it.

OK, now to conclude this thread, the Nickel Creek concert was excellent, there were maybe 3000 people at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, attending. The audience cheered loudly when the band did their loud acoustic performances. And the free, open-air Al Stewart concert at the Sands Casino was also excellent, even rowdy, alot of whooping & hollering, again at the loud acoustic performances. Dave Nachmanoff opened for Al, then he accompanied him, on the acoustic guitars. It was awesome. Al Stewart did some of his classic rock, and new music. Afterward I met Al at the "meet & greet" and he autographed the "Beach full of shells" CD. The Reno evening was mild this time, it was breezy, cool, sunny, t-shirt weather, the nearby Cinco de Mayo vendors drove me crazy with the beer and burritos.Yet I kept thinking about how Gordon has come to this city so many times, will he return?

If it wasn't on his schedule this year and it's been since 2000 that he was there maybe he'll head your way in 2008 - keep your fingers crossed!
