JP's going to be in Caribou, Maine on April 15th. Caribou is only 12 miles away. I know where I'll be that day!
I'm going to ask Mom if she wants to go along. I think she'd like him, and also tell the Wednesday Evening Fiddlers. JP's a great fiddler. For those of you who aren't familiar with him, he's from Nova Scotia, and a couple years ago recorded a Lightfoot Tribute CD called Long River. He has also played in the Lightfoot tribute shows with Angus, Jory and other Canadian stars. Here's his web site: http://www.jp-cormier.com |
oh Cathy - you're in for a huge treat - he's going to blow you away with his playing, singing, songwriting!
He's amazing...don't miss it....get Hazel up there for sure! |
Hey Cathy, did you know that on the CD, you mentioned, "The Long River," JP is the only musician on it. Including voices, he plays everything. Have a good time at the show, say Hi to your mom, for me.
I have to go paint. Later... ~Jesse~ :) [ September 26, 2006, 15:06: Message edited by: Jesse -Joe ] |
For those who want to add another great Canadian musician to their library, 'Long River' is a great choice for us "Lightheads" but to really appreciate his song writing ability try 'Now That The Work Is Done'. Fantastic album with his vocals. Many of albums are of traditional music and mostly instrumentals. So to truly appreciate J.P.'s other talents try the two mentioned above.

Yes, Jesse. I seem to recall he did all the instrumental tracks. He's a heck of a musician. Have you ever seen him?
|
Not in person, I think he bought his Martin D18- GL Signature edition guitar, in Moncton, NB, at Musicstop. Back then it was called Moncton Music Centre.{ Not 100% certain on this, but it's what Danny who works there told me.}
Fantastic musician, great emotional guy too. Played for many years in Nashville, with all the greats, even the late great Chet Atkins, told him he was amazed by his guitar playing. Eddy Gouchie, who records for JP's label told me that JP makes a great Pizza. LOL He will probably do a Chet Atkins tune, at the show your going to see. He's fantastic...Jesse :) http://www.smilieland.com/graphics/musiker019.gif [ September 26, 2006, 03:14: Message edited by: Jesse -Joe ] |

What am I looking for? I don't see any tour dates that are closer than Caribou in April.
|
Cathy, I just wanted you to see the other places he was going. In case you had not seen the concert listings...~Jesse~ :)

Caribou is only 10 miles away. I'll go to that one. Incidentally, I mentioned this concert to Garold, my fiddle teacher, and suggested he take a bus load of fiddlers over. He said he loves JP's fiddling, but he's often a bit too brash onstage for the younger fiddlers. He often times discusses things that are inappropriate for young ears. Have you ever heard this? |
No I never heard of that, you will probably find out if it's true or not, once you get to see him...~Jesse~
