There's a man with a fascinating face. Always did like him, not for his voice though. He would not be my favorite singer. But I know that he likes Gord, and that itself, is good enough for me. And the highway men shows, w/ Willie, Johnny, and Waylon, on the Farm Aids, were very enjoyable to watch. I really miss Johnny & Waylon. Thanks Charlene for the info.

He's got a great Web Site. Walking with the guitar on his shoulder. Sort of makes you want to be friends with him... JJ.

See, now I like his voice - it's gravelly and passionate and it suits the songs he writes/sings. But I know a lot of folks who think he is a fab songwriter, but agree with Jesse-Joe, that he's not a great singer - and I can't fault it because I feel that way about Dylan :) It's just all a matter of perception and perception is very individualized.

Right-on Janice, :) for Bob Dylan. I like Bob Dylan. Terrific songwriter, his voice from the early years, was weird, different. Today much lower voice. But take a song like, 'Lay Lady Lay', and 'Like A Rolling Stone.' I think he sings them beautifully. :rolleyes:

Bob Dylan is Mystifying, fascinating, to say the least. Gordon Lightfoot himself has said, "He still makes me nervous." :(

He is the voice of a generation. There are people still today that are waiting for, what he's going to say next. ;)

He's given not too many interviews in his life. His early manager Albert Grossman, who also had, Gord Lightfoot, Ian & Sylvia, Peter Paul and Mary among others, in his stable told them, "Dont do any interviews, because entertainers have a way of putting there feet in there mouth."~gl~.

I saw Bob Dylan in concert in 2002, didn't say one word to the audience, A cool guy. At the begining someone yelled into the microphone, Welcome, Hello Halifax, Nova-Scotia, Ladies and Gentlemen...Bob Dylan. 'Cheers, Loud Applause.' Every thing was OK, The only problem was, we were in Moncton NB. LOL :D

I've said this before, someone could have thrown a hand grenade on stage and I dont think he would have moved...JJ. :)

Good one. KK's songwriting is absolutely remarkable.

Just got home from seeing Rita Coolidge. She was fantastic and looks amazing. That beautiful Cherokee face! She talked about her 'favourite ex-husband' with great affection. Said he was a great father and wonderful songwriter 'but he wasnt such a great husband' and laughed. 'He's better at it this time around.' I loved to hear her talk about Kris - she is going home to be with their daughter Casey who was expecting her third baby 'and Kris will be there too'.
She didnt mention his birthday. Think she might have forgotten it?

She's always been a stunning looking woman..with a stunning voice. She just turned 63 in May. (another source has her at 62)

From all accounts I've ever read or heard about it seems they enjoy a very warm friendship after all these years. He's got a brood full of kids and grandkids ..

This concert was very jazz orientated - she did 'Fever' and 'We're all alone' and many from her new album, plus some of the old rockers and - for me - the highlight was the Cherokee anthem, which she sang in Cherokee (and which we would know as 'Amazing Grace') The Cherokee version is so much more powerful and emotive. And she did a terrific version of 'Superstar' which she said was written about Clapton. I didnt know that. It was a great concert. I would have taken photos but she very firmly told one hapless soul who was clicking away 'that is NOT allowed. Dont make me 'Cry a River' - then went into the Julie London classic.
btw Kris now has 8 kids. He sure looks good on it. ;)

That would be Sumpin' Else! Since Bobby McGee is one of the few tunes Gord put to record by other songwriters, maybe there's an Inside Straight of a Chance.

I recall a Universal Amphitheater LA show in support of *Read My Mind* where virtually the only words Gord spoke the entire evening were of his friendship w/ Kris - as and intro to B Mc G.

If they'd do it . . . I'd give 'em a cookie!
