I'm trying it out, thinking maybe I'll post stuff for my kids here instead of on the computer in case of computer crash, fire etc. - it'll still be in cyberspace as long as the site remains and I can remember my user ID and password. Here's what I wrote today.

Liked your blog, Annie. You are a wonderful writer -- it's quite evocative. Takes me back, too.

Thank you!

Annie,
I have to cut to the chase here. Many of those lollies sound fantastic ! Do they still make them these days ? Most of them were not available in Australia as far as I know. PS Sorry to ignore the more important part of your blog...(forgive me!!?) |
Actually there are a couple of online sites where you can order most of them:
http://www.blaircandy.com/candy.html (under nostalgic/fun candy) http://www.hometownfavorites.com/penny-candy.htm (where you can buy candies by the decade they were most popular or first introduced) http://www.candywarehouse.com/nostalgic.html http://www.nostalgiccandy.com/store/ None of these are "penny" candy anymore but would be a fun surprise for somebody celebrating a milestone birthday, complete with newspaper of the year they were born and that sort of thing. For the heck of it, try the quiz at http://www.funtrivia.com/playquiz/qu...471536790.html to see how many you can name from the description (I got 9/10). |
I got 7/10 and I remember all those candies with the exception of the mummy indian one.
|
8/10 But like the Watchman I never heard of "Chocolate Babies"
|
I guess I ate too much of the stuff,LOL I got 9/10.
Try this site for the caramel creams. Great stuff. http://www.goetzecandy.com/ Bill :) |
Those are my mom's favorites, yummy. Hard to decide whether to uncurl the caramel around the cream and eat that first, or suck out the filling first, LOL. It's all good.

Sorry ... I inherited the family sweet tooth. My maternal grandfather ate a one pound box of Candy Cupboard chocolates every night before bed, and no, he didn't look like that. Never had diabetes, never gained weight. I, alas, inherited my maternal grandmother's metabolism - though she lived to be 86.
Anyway, back to blogs. The next entry is here: http://auburnannie.blogspot.com/2005...st-memory.html |
I remember chocolate babies! Oops, dating myself...
