Ditto here (I'm just west of you.) My daughter had school today, with a one-hour delay. We're hoping they cancel tomorrow because as cold as it was today, the wind is supposed to pick up late tomorrow morning with even worse windchill by dismissal time. Brrrr - if I didn't have a puppy to take outside for his business, I wouldn't be out the door either.

It's 20 below with winds gusting up to 35mph and a wind-chill of 55 below. All schools, colleges, government business and many locally owned businesses were closed today. Just to d*mned cold to go out.
Doesn't look any better for tomorrow, either.

My pipes have frozen every night for the past 11 nights. So I have shut off the water tonight. Yesterday morning around 9:30 it was -12. When summer comes I am going to have to dig under the foundation and wrap the pipes, I have no way to get to them under the house. It is time to warm up. Denver has been in upper 30's to mid 40's. I guess I am on the wrong side of the divide.

A. Do not shoot the messenger
B. You all are welcome to move here, particularly those of you who might be sane, single, relatively normal men in their 30's and 40's

B. The only part that applies to me is being in my 40s, so I guess I'll stay put.

C. We'll have that temperature range here, too...In May.

It was REALLY cold here in IL last week. This week has been better, but it is still chilly...I think it's in the 20's today with a possibility of light snow. I haven't seen any snow yet, so maybe the weatherman was wrong about that. The weather man wrong? No, that NEVER happens!!!!

That's about where we are - and me outside with the dog, who thinks it's time to play. Brrrrr. They got a second day off from school - makes a nice long weekend with MLK on Monday.

I've seen folks from Southern Florida come up here to Georgia and shake and shiver and I'll stand there with just a thin longsleeve shirt or short sleeve and they'll ask me, "Aren't you freezing?" and I'll say, no. They're too used to those warm 80 degree winters.

Imagine what they'd be like in northern Maine.
We had 18 inches of snow yesterday, with high winds and white-out conditions. I was so disappointed that I couldn't make it to work.

What amazes me time and time again are people who come up here to 7000 feet to ski and snow board and it's 43 at noon and they're COMPLAINING because they're cold in their shorts and sandels. I work a few hours a week for a vacation rental company. A couple weeks ago one of the tenants came into the office and complained that the house they were staying in wasn't warm enough. The owner of the business, with a straight face, looked them up and down in their t-shirts and shorts and asked if they owned a sweater or sweatshirt? I had to duck into the back to keep from laughing.
