Excerpted from Folkwax (11/27):

....Songwriter Vince Matthews died Saturday (November 22) at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. A friend and contemporary of Kris Kristofferson, who cited him by name in his eulogy for the late Johnny Cash, Matthews is best known for three songs, "Love in the Hot Afternoon," which he co-wrote with Kent Westberry and which, in 1975, became Gene Watson's first Top 5 hit; "On Susan's Floor," written with Shel Silverstein; and "This Is My Year for Mexico," a #21 single for Crystal Gayle in 1975....

And sorry about that subject line, folks. As above, he died in hospital, NOT "on Susan's floor" - unless Susan is the charge nurse at St Thomas.

Ironically,"On Susan's Floor" is one of the very last GL songs I used for my recordings.

I'm never happy to hear about anyone's passing but RIP Mr. Matthews.
