While watching CNN this today, I heard them describe the latest searches for Saddam Hussein as "Early Morning Raids". With that in mind, I now present the following, to the tune of Early Morning Rain

In the Early Morning Raid
With an Uzi in My Hand
Got My Night-Vision Goggles On
Jeez, This Place is Full of Sand

Saddam's a Long Way from Home
Does He miss His Gaudy Palace So
With This Early Morning Raid
Not Many Places Can He Go

Ive Been Here for Too Damn Long
Bags all Packed and Set to Go
But I'm Stuck Here in Iraq
Cause Finding Him's been Really Slow

Well the Hummas Tasted Good
And the Women All Were Veiled
Well He Got Away Again
But Next Time We Will not Fail

Hear our Mighty BlackHawks Roar
As they Whirl About on High
Is He East Or Westward Bound
Well, We'll Get Him By and By

You Can't Kill Saddam Hussein
Like A Rabid Great Dane*
But You Know We're Closing In
With Our Early Morning Raids

Hard To Capture That Hussein
Yes He Really Is a Pain
But Soon His Number Will Be Up
Thanks To Our Early Morning Raids

*No Great Danes were harmed in the making of this Parody.

Hmmm...TooRa...may I suggest that you not give up your day job?

gwen snyder 07-28-2003 02:33 PM

Awesome!!!

Oma 07-28-2003 02:43 PM

This sounds like something that would be on the Dr. Demento show by Weird Al Yankovic! Are you really Weird Al in disguise? Maybe if people heard this parody on the radio, it would also rekindle an interest in the original GL song?

BILLW 07-28-2003 03:44 PM

Very well done. I come back from vacation and actually find something to laugh about. Keep up the good work.

TooRa,If you don't send that in to Weird Al Yankovic right away, you are depriving America and most of the world a good reason to laugh!! I love it! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Not to even attempt to match that I just thought of this line.> "Husseiny People, never seem to know when it's time to quit." "Sheep to the Shepard,it seems they have not heard, their regime's been blown to bits!" Not bad huh? Catch ya later! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif

Are the Iraqis the lucky ones?
Since war 'ended' we've lost 50 sons,
I think we've done enough,
For God sake get us out of this trough.
Is it not time to bring our boys and girls home?

I am not Mister Yankovic, but I have met him. Very, very nice man and not actually all that weird.

Wow, I am just overwhelmed at the response my little post has garnered. Its even caused some controversy over at the newsgroup...Well, so far only one person seemed to find it all that controversial, but still I find these strong reactions just amazing!
Thanks for your kind words Borderstone and no , your lines were not bad at all, keep up the good work.

We are the country who
invented the 'bomb-o-gram'
are you proud? I know I am.
We dispatch these things with glee, at will,
We don't care many innocents we kill.

We are America, land of the brave,
We have a world to save.
All we Americans are free and equal,
Thats a good thing.
If you doubt that, just ask Rodney King.

We lost countless good men in Korea and Vietnam.
Were they happy to give their lives for Uncle sam?

Now we're back.
Some God forsaken place. IRAQ.

Borderstone 07-29-2003 06:05 PM

TooRa,your little posting is no more controversial than,"The I'm Fixin' To Die Rag"-by Country Joe & The Fish from 1969. Or any more than that WWII classic,"When the furher says,we is de master race,we heil plltt!,heil plltt!,right in the furher's face!" ...or even Gordon Lightfoot's,"Sit Down Young Stranger",which is about a Vietnam draft dodger returning to visit his parents, who do not like what he's done. Don't let people tell you you're wrong for writing that. Humorous poems and ditty's like these are something that's always gone along with war. Going all the way back to the American Revolution and Civil War. The people chiding you for this obviously don't understand there's always room for humor in a serious situation. It relieves the tension of having to live with these harsh realities everyday. If there were no humor, these things would make us all certifiably insane or worse. In fact when I learned Bob Hope passed away, instead of being sad,I watched the clips of him on the newscasts and laughed. I'm sure he'd want people to focus on the positive so,write on and right on! http://www.corfid.com/ubb/cool.gif Later!

Yo Triple T,

Yes I am proud! Thanks for asking. Why not post your email address or register as a member so you can receive replies that might not be appropriate for this forum. By the way do you remember what happened on September 11th. here in the States??

Semper Fidelis,

I second BillW's comment! OOOOHHH RAAHH!

Rodney King? May I borrow a quote from the old man Eddie, from the movie "Barber Shop"?

"Now I probably wouldn't say this in front of white folks, but we in a barber shop and if we can't talk straight here, where can we talk straight? There are 3 things that black folk need to stop lying about. Number one, Rodney King deserved to get his a** beat. Number 2, O.J. did it, and number 3, Rosa Parks didn't do nothin' but sit her big black a** down on a bus."

That should sum up the stupid Rodney King thing. Rodney King....free Americans, stupid correlation.

...

"You sent me alone
To the last place
Where man thought not,
You sent me alone
Some now call me "Ace",
My torn flesh was hot
You sent me alone
I took your place
You weren't caught,
You sent me alone
Will you save face
Or understand, as it ought
to be?

Reality check. We are in no mans' shoes other than self therefore, before we

tut,tut,tut 07-31-2003 01:16 PM

Yes Bill, I do remember September 11. My sister's son, my nephew, is a fireman. Thankfully still with us.

Turkish Terrorist Organisation T.M.T
EOKA.
Mau Mau.
Basque Seperatists.
Bader Meinhoff.
Red Brigade.
Tamil Tigers.
IRA.
Hamas
Islamic Jihad.
Hizbollah.
Amal.
PLO.
DFLP.
PFLP.
Fatah.

Terrorists or Glorious Freedom Fighters?
It depends on what side of the fence you are on.
September 11th was inevitable.

Watchman, if my memory serves me. The Rosa Parks incident led the Supreme Court to rule that 'segregation on transportation was unconstitutional'.
No matter how much he deserved it, I suggest the what happened to Rodney King was unconstitutional and unlawful.
What are courts and juries for?
Finally, I learn, with heavy heart, that we have lost another 2 brave men in Iraq today.
How many more?
I will read any comments this post may prompt. But I will not respond.

BILLW 07-31-2003 03:19 PM

TTT,

Typical terrorist tactics. Masked attacks and then retreat. Good riddance. You can call a pig a rose but it's still a pig no matter what side of the fence it's on.

Sorry if I've offended anyone by going a bit off topic here but I can't stand sneak attacks.

...

judge or tear one another apart, remember that we must sustain the final crust of sanity for self...

upon losing this we have lost the thread of humanity and dignity for life, although some might want just that...

TheWatchman 08-01-2003 12:22 AM

Tut,

I thought the quote from "Barber Shop" was rather funny. Your comments were a joke, so I responded with a joke. Your right Bill. A pig is a pig and so is a turd sandwhich.

I don't care about Rodney King or the a** beating that he got. He's a scumbag that pushed the wrong cops too far. I don't think he will ever disrespect the law in such a way again. He learned a very valuable lesson. Yes, they went too far and did use unnecessary force. Should have just turned a dog lose on him for a few minutes.

Perhaps you need to learn a lesson yourself and respect this country a little more. I would send you directly to Sadaam's hide out and let you live under him for awhile. You would be begging for a soldier to come and blow his brains out. Get a grip on reality. I know that everybody has a right to their opinion but your comments are just turds floating in space. No substance to anything.

"We lost countless good men in Korea and Vietnam. Were they happy to give their lives for Uncle sam?" What the heck does that have to do with price of peanut butter? That is soooooo ridiculous that it doesn't even deserve an explanation from me. Are you sure your old enough to post on this forum?

TooRaHooorah 12-14-2003 05:54 PM

Well, it took four and a half months, (since this was written) but its finally come true.
We got him!!!
